What means of transport should one travel by?
You can travel by any means of transport! The main thing that you need is your desire. However, if you say that money is also required for this, I will agree with you. But money is not the decisive factor. I know a lot of people with modest financial resources who have travelled around the world by bicycles, old motorbikes and even by hitchhiking. And one of my friends on Facebook went on a world tour five months ago with ten thousand roubles in his pocket and without permanent income. And he has already reached Indonesia! But, of course, having a stable income or big savings makes travelling easier and more fun. Money will expand the boundaries of your freedom, if you use it properly.
I like to travel using different equipment (the choice of it depends on my objectives of a trip). Here's what I keep in my garage today:
Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. It is a heavy motorbike aimed at travelling along the good roads, which are paved with asphalt of a high quality (for example, across Europe or around central and southern Russia).
BMW R1200GS Adv. It is a heavy motorbike that I take for long-distance travelling along the roads both with and without pavement.
KTM-350 ECX-F Six Days is a lightweight motorbike of the "Enduro" type, which suits for trips along ground roads and across rough off-road terrain.
BRP OUTLANDER 1000R XMR is a powerful ATV. It is good for trips around cross country areas, since it has quite a high off-road capability.
Ski-Doo FREERIDE 800 is a snowmobile, which I take for extreme trips through deep snow drifts (for example, on winter expeditions to Karelia and to the Kola Peninsula).
TOYOTA HILUX 2.4 Arctic Trucks is a pickup truck with a residential module. I go by it on autonomous journeys along both paved and unpaved roads.
